Administrators and staff who handle matters pertaining to housing, recreation, safety, counseling, financial aid, transportation, health services, insurance, employment or other co-curricular activities should consider including a statement in their program materials encouraging students with disabilities to contact them directly to discuss their needs. Administrators and staff members should consider including the following statement for this purpose.

“St. Mary's University seeks to provide equal access to its programs, services and activities for people with disabilities. In order to establish the existence of a disability and/or request reasonable, effective and appropriate accommodations to enhance your university experience, please contact the Coordinator for Disabled Student Services at 436-3714. Accommodations can then be made with reasonable prior notice.“

The Dean of Students will collaborate with administrators and staff on developing reasonable, effective and appropriate accommodations pertaining to non-academic issues for students. Administrators and staff should contact the Office of Disability Services if there are questions concerning reasonable, effective and appropriate accommodations. When the need for accommodations has been verified by the Dean of Students, and the Dean of Students in cooperation with administrators and staff has developed a specific accommodation plan pertaining to non-academic issues, all University employees are obliged to comply with the University's responsibility to provide reasonable, effective and appropriate accommodations.
