“For generations, St. Mary’s University has promoted a commitment to academic excellence and service. Today, this time-honored tradition continues to permeate the lives of our students, our alumni and the communities
in which they live and serve.”
| You Will Be Called |
We will resume fund-raising efforts with our Fall Phonathon on Oct. 17. Donations from alumni like you are important to the University’s continued success.
During the phonathon, 40 enthusiastic students will call thousands of alumni across the country to ask for support of the St. Mary’s Fund. |
If you would prefer to make your gift early and not be called by our students, you can make your gift online through our secure Web site. |

Last month, Hurricane Katrina struck the southeastern part of the United States. More than 700 alumni reside in the areas hardest hit and thousands more were offering aid.
In response to this difficult situation, the St. Mary’s Fund temporarily suspended fundraising. |

The 2006 St. Mary’s Fund campaign marks the introduction of our new “Living the Legacy” campaign. Every day, alumni are living the legacy of St. Mary’s University.
|
You can see the principles of the University in the work we do, the lives we lead, the time spent with family and friends. Much of who we are today was formed by our experiences at St. Mary’s.
While studying at St. Mary’s, students learn and grow not just intellectually, but spiritually and emotionally. |
St. Mary’s wants to keep you updated on our progress and periodically will provide information on the status of our 2005-2006 campaign. The St. Mary’s Fund runs annually from June 1 through May 31.
As of Oct. 12, alumni and friends of the University have donated $97,111 to
the St. Mary’s Fund.

Key Caller Janeth Huizar, a transfer student from El Paso, shares why she’s involved:
Why did you decided to participate in phonathon?
Because I found it a great way to be involved, and being a transfer student, it really helped me learn more about St. Mary’s University.
What has your experience been while talking to donors?
At first I was nervous but as time went on I gained confidence. I’ll never forget talking to one alumna who graduated more than 30 years ago. She was so nice and really interested in my major and the professors I had. She even gave me advice on what classes to take.
What do you think is most important about the St. Mary’s Fund?
It helps continue the cycle of education. As phonathon callers, we talk to former students who were once in our shoes- we get to tell them our stories and how their contributions will allow us to reach our goals.
