Terrorism Seminar 2009: Preparing Law Enforcement for Threats to National Security


St. Mary's University, in conjunction with the Texas Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates (NAA), the FBI – San Antonio Division, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, the San Antonio Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Police Association and the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary's University School of Law, held a law enforcement-sensitive terrorism seminar entitled, Terrorism Seminar 2009: Preparing Law Enforcement for Threats to National Security.

The seminar was held Monday, March 9, 2009 through Thursday, March 12, 2009, at St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas.

The seminar instructors included current or former local, state & federal agents experienced in terrorism investigations and subject matter experts or prosecuting attorneys in terrorism matters from the U.S. Attorney’s office. The audience consisted of local, state, federal, and active military law enforcement officials, intelligence analystsand prosecutors (along with vetted international colleagues).

The national and international issues or topics to be discussed at this law enforcement sensitive seminar included: Cyber-Terrorism; Case Studies from Agents and Prosecutors; Radicalization of Latin America; Legal Issues and Terrorism; Hamas and Hezbollah; Emerging Trends in Respect to Terrorism; and International Issues Regarding Terrorism.
