Meeting Old Core Requirements with new Core Courses

Students who matriculated before June 1, 2010, and transfers matriculating before June 1, 2012, must fulfill the 1985 Core Curriculum requirements. If these students change majors they will complete the requirements of the 1985 Core Curriculum and total hours required for graduation based on their entering catalogue. Major course requirements will be determined by current catalogue at time of change of major.

For these students, the following courses in the new Core Curriculum will substitute for courses in the 1985 Core:

• SMC 1311 Foundations of Reflection: Self will substitute for PL 1310 From Experience to Meaning: Critical Inquiry as Quest and Practice.
• SMC 1314 Foundations of Reflection: God will substitute for TH 2301 Theological Foundations: Religious Tradition, Experience and Commitment.
• SMC 2304 Foundations of Practice: Literature will substitute for one course in the EN 2000 literature requirement.
