Interior Design Program

St. Mary’s University Interior Design and Advanced Interior Design programs are 10-month programs. Various seminars and workshops relating to the field of design also are offered throughout the year.

St. Mary's University houses an ASID student chapter. Our Design Certificate program meets the necessary requirements for our ASID student members to progress through ASID membership and become eligible to take the NCIDQ exam. Both of our instructors are registered with the Texas State Board of Architecture and are members of ASID.

NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification): Role of the Professional Interior Designer

The Interior Design profession provides services encompassing research, development, and implementation of plans and designs of interior environment to improve the quality of life, increase productivity, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. The interior design process follows a systemic and coordinated methodology. Research, analysis, and integration of information into the creative process result in an appropriate interior environment. Practitoners may perform any or all of following services: programming, conceptual design, design development, contract administration, and evaluation.
