The Semi-Annual
Continuing the Heritage
Day of Service Event is
Saturday, January 28, 2012
Continuing the Heritage Day of Service Event (CTH) is a University-wide service project that takes place at the beginning of each semester. The event is sponsored and organized by the Civic Engagement and Career Development Center and the Marianist Leadership Program.
In August 2011, more than 700 St. Mary's volunteers came together to give more than 3,000 hours of service in the community.
Check out our "What Service Means to Me" You Tube video from our August 2011 CTH Day of Service Event! Each year, students, faculty, staff and alumni come out in droves to volunteer for community projects around San Antonio. They lend their time and talent to paint houses for the elderly in the St. Mary's neighborhood area, work in community gardens, serve food to the homeless at Haven for Hope, paint playgrounds at Head Start locations, remove graffiti and more. Our next service day is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration for nearly 700 volunteer slots opens Monday, January 23, 2012 at 8 a.m.
Since 2003, nearly 4,800 volunteers have offered approximately 26,500 hours to organizations providing much-needed service throughout San Antonio.
Previous partners have included Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Guadalupe Home, Catholic Charities, Roy Maas Alternative Thrift Store, Grace Place for Alzheimers, St. Mary's Legal and Social Justice Center, Root of Change Community Garden, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital, and many more.
