Monday, March 11- |
International Sash Orders Due International students or those students who have studied abroad and received academic credit while at St. Mary's, may order a sash to wear at graduation that represents their home country or the country where they studied. Sashes are $45 for a single country or $55 for two countries and must be pre-paid at the Business Office. Excludes weekends and holidays. No orders will be taken after Friday, April 19. Friday, March 8 |
Commencement Ceremony Form Due Tickets are required for guests attending Commencement Exercises as seating in the Alumni Athletic & Convocation Center, Bill Greehey Arena is limited. However, tickets are not required for the Baccalaureate Mass. Students who file for graduation late or who do not confirm their "Commencement Participation Form" cannot be guaranteed the maximum number of guest tickets To help you plan for commencement and to accommodate additional guests, overflow seating for guests without tickets will be directed to the University Center Conference Room A, where they may view a live broadcast of the ceremony. Cap and Gown Distribution Please note that there is no extra charge for the cap, gown and tassel for bachelor's degree candidates or the cap, gown and hood for master's degree and Ph.D. candidates. When you pick up your cap and gown, simply present your Rattler ID, give your name, degree, and height. Please note that Ph.D. candidates are asked to visit the University Bookstore in advance to be premeasured. Contact the University Bookstore at (210) 436-3406 for details. Wednesday, May 8 |
Group Photograph A group photograph will be taken of all Spring 2013 graduates in front of St. Louis Hall. In case of rain, the photo will be moved to Greehey Arena. Students are asked to wear casual business attire. You may order pictures on site. Photo packages are $20 and include: one 10 x 24-inch laminated panoramic, one 5 x 8-inch miniature photo, and one fun photo. (Prices subject to change.) Goldbeck Company |

Friday, May 10 |
Assemble for Baccalaureate Mass Graduates are to assemble for the Academic Procession in cap and gown. Tassels are worn on the right side of the cap at all times. Please line up according to height, in two lines, side-by-side. Students 5'10" and under line up first and lead the procession to the Mass site. Staff will be on hand to assist you. Master's and Ph.D. candidates do not bring hoods to the Baccalaureate Mass. |

Baccalaureate Mass Tickets for the Baccalaureate Mass are not required. Non-Catholics are welcome and will feel comfortable at this traditional ceremony. Graduates and their families are invited to attend a reception following Baccalaureate Mass hosted by Thomas M. Mengler, J.D., President and Provost and Vice President for Academic Andre Hampton, J.D. |

Saturday, May 11 |
Assemble for Commencement Rehearsal Your promptness is encouraged so that rehearsal can be completed quickly. (Report to Bill Greehey Arena by 8:30 a.m.) You do not need your cap and gown during rehearsal. Staff will be on hand to assist you. St. Mary's University Alumni Association will provide graduates with coffee, pastries and fruit. The Alumni Association congratulates and warmly welcomes all graduates who automatically become members of the association upon conferral of their degree. Saturday, May 11 |
Assemble for Commencement Academic Procession Arrive no later than 1 p.m. Cap and gown must be worn. Tassels are worn on the right side of the cap at all times. Master's and Ph.D. candidates are asked to bring their hoods to Commencement Exercises. Do not wear the hood. You will be hooded on stage by the Dean of the Graduate School when you receive your diploma. Graduates are not required to return academic apparel following Commencement Exercises. Graduates are to be lined up for the Academic Procession by 1:15 p.m. The procession begins promptly at 1:30 p.m., and you will proceed to your designated seat on the floor of Bill Greehey Arena. Staff will be on hand to assist you. |

Commencement Exercises Guest tickets are required as seating in the Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center, Bill Greehey Arena is limited. Please note that handicap seating is limited so disabled guest are encouraged to arrive early. Doors open at NOON. Out-of town guests of graduates may review a list of San Antonio hotels and make reservations by visiting the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau at www.sanantoniocvb.com. Commencement lasts an average of two and half to three hours depending on the number of graduates and length of addresses given. A professional photographer will take a photo of each graduate receiving a diploma during Commencement Exercises. Several weeks after Commencement, you will receive a proof of the picture and an order form. You are under no obligation to place an order.
