Service Involvement Report (SIR)
Current St. Mary's University students, registered student organizations, faculty, and staff are highly encouraged to complete the Service Involvement Report (SIR) in order to accurately document all community service and service-learning hours, as well as any type of fundraising events meant for philanthropic causes.
For students, the online SIR captures all types of service throughout your collegiate experience. For a generation in which service to the community is at an all-time high, graduate programs and employers nationwide are seeing the value in continual service. As these universities and companies move toward an ethic of corporate social responsibility, it is imperative that you - as a St. Mary's student and servant leader - report your service hours on a regular basis. At your request, the Civic Engagement and Career Development Center can provide documentation (i.e. letters of verification) showcasing your community involvement, which will go hand-in-hand with your graduate school applications and resumes.
For faculty, the online SIR is also a good way of keeping track of hours your students perform for your service-learning courses. The Civic Engagement and Career Development Center can support you by verifying student's information and delivering a service confirmation list of all students and their hours. We will simply need a current roster of your service-learning courses and course syllabi.
