Students in the first-year of the "Existing Notebook Program" (Dell Model 630)

Students who received a new notebook (Dell Model 630) in fall of 2007 or spring of 2008 will not be affected by the changes at this time. Students graduating in the spring of 2009 still will have the opportunity to keep their 2-year old notebook upon graduation. Students continuing full-time beyond the spring of 2009 will have an opportunity to make changes to their notebook computer program during the spring 2009 semester. You do not need to complete any paperwork at this time.

Students in the second-year of the "Existing Notebook Program" (Dell Model 620)

OPTION ONE: Students may withdraw from the Existing Program and decline to accept a new notebook in fall 2008. Students will keep their current notebook and continue to receive tech support from the Office of Information Technology through May 2010. Under this option, students will pay the 2008-2009 revised tuition rate that does not include the cost of a new notebook ($10,300 per semester). In order to participate in this option, students will need to complete a Transfer of Ownership form at the Information Technology office in Charles Francis by May 2, 2008. This process will transfer the notebook ownership from the University to the student.

OR

OPTION TWO: Students may continue in the Existing Program. Their tuition rate for 2008-2009 will include the cost of a new notebook ($10,660 per semester). Students will surrender their current notebook and receive a new notebook in fall 2008. Students choosing this option do not need to complete any paperwork.

Please note: Students who do not withdraw from the notebook program by May 2, 2008 automatically will be continued in the current program through May 2010. These students will receive a new notebook computer in the fall of 2008 (fall 2008 model).

Any questions can be directed to the service desk at 210 431-4357 or via e-mail at helpdesk@stmarytx.edu.
