Information for Parents of New Students
As soon as your son or daughter knows he or she will be attending their first year of college, the student should take an active role in understanding their financial responsibilities and staying informed at all times of their current status and future registrations.

Billing
Students are responsible for reviewing their bill online via Gateway each semester, or they can request a statement via e-mail: businessoffice@stmarytx.edu.
When classes are in session, our two primary methods of communication are:
- E-mails sent through University e-mail, and
- Notices posted on Gateway
Payment Deadlines
If a student registers for the summer session, bills will be available online mid-April. Please see our Payment Policy section for payment deadlines.Payment plans begin as early as July 15 for the Fall semester; Dec. 15 for the Spring semester; and May 15 for the Summer session. All loan applications must be approved by the deadline.
Meeting deadlines helps reduce the burden of making financial decisions while the student is starting the new academic session. For payment plan options and payment plan due dates, review the Financial Planning Form on the Forms for Download page.
A late payment fee of $150 is assessed each semester to students that miss the payment deadlines. Help your student avoid financial and administrative penalties by helping them remember these important payment deadlines.
Helpful tip: Use the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving holidays as reminders for the Aug. 15 and Jan. 15 payment deadlines.
Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions section for more information regarding navigating Gateway, work study, meal plans, health insurance, and parking permits.
