Athletic Training Program

The goal of the athletic training staff at St. Mary’s University is to provide quality medical care for student athletes. Each member of the athletic training team works to provide these traditional services for all student-athletes: leadership, advice, service necessary to prevent injury, recognition of injury, evaluation of injury, care for the injured and sick, rehabilitation, health care administration and professional development and responsibility.

They are committed to developing and maintaining unparalleled athletic training facilities and to staff these facilities with highly qualified and motivated personnel whose foundation is built on the utmost ethical standards.

The Rattler athletic training room allows easy access to athletic training services to student-athletes. They do encourage a philosophy of sports that places a high value on health and wellness. Their job is dedicated to enabling injured student-athletes to return to their sports as soon as they are medically safe.

The athletic training room is housed in the Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center. Equipment is state-of-the-art and is continually upgraded to stay abreast of the rapidly changing field of sports medicine. Besides the traditional hydrotherapy whirlpools, equipment includes: ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, interferential stimulation, intermittent compression, TENS, leg extension/curl machine, hydrocollator units, Total Gym, slideboards, and Game Ready.

The athletic training room is located on the first floor across from the women’s locker room. The athletic training room is open every weekday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-5 p.m. or until daily practices ends. On game days, it is open two hours prior to game time, and closes 30 minutes prior to game time.
