V.J. Keefe Field

Located on the west side of the St. Mary’s University campus, V.J. Keefe Field is the home of Rattler baseball. The stadium’s namesake, V.J. Keefe, was one of the city early sports pioneers.
Phase I of construction of the stadium began in 1957, and in 1958 the stadium was dedicated and the monstrous scoreboard, the signature of V.J. Keefe Field for many years, was erected. The stadium was upgraded a few years later to accomodate professional baseball.
The San Antonio Missions played at V.J. Keefe from 1964 until 1994. The dimensions of the facility are 325 down the lines, 360 to the alleys and 400 to center.
