Chad Peters is entering his thid year as the sports information coordinator at St. Mary's University, where he oversees the publicity of 12 intercollegiate sports.

His duties include coordinating media relations, writing and distributing news releases, producing game-day programs and managing internet broadcasts. Among the new projects he began tackling in his first years on the job were implementing live video broadcasts for all of St. Mary's home events, launching "Snippets from the Snake Pit," an electronic news bulletin sent to Rattler fans, and starting a weekly webisode called "Talkin' Rattlers."

Prior to returning to St. Mary's in August 2010, he spent the previous four years covering various sports for the San Antonio Express-News. He reported on just about every sport in town while at the paper, writing about high school sports, Dallas Cowboys training camp, the Missions, the Rampage -- and even the St. Mary's Rattlers as part of his local colleges' duties.

Peters got started in the craft as an intern staff writer with the Dallas Cowboys, covering the team by writing feature stories and game recaps for the team's official web site, DallasCowboys.com, from 2002-2006. In addition to the Express-News, he has been published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Cowboys Weekly and the Herald-Zeitung.

Peters received his Bachelor of Arts in English communication arts from St. Mary's in 2006. He served as St. Mary's co-sports information director from November 2005-May 2006.

He is married to the former Ana Lopez, who also graduated from St. Mary's in 2006. The couple are expecting their first child this December.
