New Transfer Students

Welcome to St. Mary's University!

We look forward to meeting you at Zaragoza. During this orientation program, you will have an opportunity to meet with an academic adviser and register for courses for the spring semester. To prepare for your advising appointment, complete the Transfer Student Advising To Do List. Please note: your academic adviser will assume you completed the Transfer Student Advising To Do List before attending Zaragoza.

Transfer Student Advising To Do List

  • Become familiar with your major's degree requirements. Print and review degree plan for major (or major of interest, if undeclared*.)
  • Determine what credits have transferred to St. Mary's. Review GPS worksheet (degree audit) via Gateway (To learn more about GPS, view GPS video).Bring a pdf copy of your GPS worksheet to Zaragoza.
  • Review Course Schedule
    • For up-to-date course offering information, view course schedule via Gateway. (To learn how to review course schedule via Gateway, follow the Quick Guide.)
  • Complete draft of Tentative Schedule. Your adviser will review the completed tentative schedule form during your advising appointment.
  • Learn about the registration process. During your advising appointment, you will receive a registration pin that is required for online registration. To become familiar with online registration, view theOnline Course Registration Video. For your convenience a Quick Guide to Register is also available.

*Undeclared students are encouraged to learn more about majors available at St. Mary's. These students should review the Academic Advising Guide for more information.

Note: Your academic adviser will be assigned to you during Zaragoza check-in. Because your adviser assignment is based on your major, please ensure your GPS worksheet has the correct major information. If the major listed is incorrect, please contact the Admission office at uadm@stmarytx.edu to update your record.

Don't forget to bring the following with you to Zaragoza:

  • Updated official transcripts, if applicable
  • pdf copy of your Advising Worksheet
  • Degree Plan for major (or major of interest)
  • Draft of Tentative Schedule
