St. Mary’s University offers initial teacher certification through its undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate programs. Certification is available at the following levels:
Early Childhood-Grade 4 (EC-4)
Grades 4-8 Grades 8-12 Early Childhood-Grade 12 (All-Level) The following chart illustrates the various teacher certificates that can be attained at St. Mary’s and the corresponding subject areas in which students would major. Students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree can pursue initial certification as either post-baccalaureate or graduate students. Please contact the Education Department for specific information on which plan would best meet your needs. Certificate LevelEarly Childhood-Grade 4

Note: Students concentrating on Grades 4 and 5 should choose an interdisciplinary major; Students concentrating on Grades 6-8 should major in the specific content area. Grades 8-12
