Her areas of special interest include cultural anthropology, medical anthropology, human evolution and American Indian and Hispanic populations. Dr. Keyes has conducted research in Guatemala and in San Antonio where she did a comparative study of Mexican-American and Anglo lay midwifery. She is currently researching the social and cultural dimensions of hearing loss.
