Faculty Research

Alex Briseno earned his Masters from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He became a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration in 1996. Mr. Briseno serves as an adjunct professor specializing in Public Administration and Urban Affairs.

Charles L. Cotrell, president of St. Mary's University, earned the Ph.D. at the University of Arizona. Dr. Cotrell is a recognized specialist in American political theory, the United States' relationship with Mexico and Central America, and media and elections.

Monica Cruz- earned her BA at the University of Texas at San Antonio and her MA at the University of Texas at Austin, LBJ School of Public Affairs. Concentration in child and family policy, workforce development, welfare reform and health and human services.

Henry Flores- earned the Ph.D. at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Flores' specialties include urban political systems, American institutions, public administration, and Latino politics.

Joseph M. Fonseca- earned his Associates of Arts in Pre-Law at the San Antonio college, his BA and MA in Political Science  at St. Mary's University at San Antonio. 

Sonia Garcia earned the Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Garcia's specialties include gender politics, Latino/a politics, political behavior, American institutions and constitutional law.

Thomas J. Hoffman earned the Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Dr. Hoffman is a specialist in political behavior, political philosophy, religion and politics, American Indian issues (including Indigenous spirituality), and public policy regarding child protection.

Larry Hufford earned the Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science. A Piper Professor and former Danforth Associate, Dr. Hufford is a specialist in international human rights, conflict resolution and the international arms trade.

Celine A. Jacquemin- earned an MA in Social Sciences and a PhD in Political Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. Dr Celine focuses on patterns of human rights violations and on cases of genocides. As an International Relations and Political Science Professor, Dr Celine specializes on the growing European Union and on the Great Lakes Region of Africa. Her courses cover a wide array from teaching research methods and statistical analysis to comparative courses on Democratic Theory and Democratization. She also enjoys teaching International Relations Theories and stirring up students to become engaged in Transnational Civil Society.

Steven Neiheisel earned the Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Neiheisel's specialties include American Politics, Social & Civic Leadership, and Government Leadership.

Leona Pallansch earned the Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Pallansch is an expert in international relations, political economy and research methodology.

Amir Samandi- earned his MA at the George Washington University, Elliot School of International Affairs at Washington DC and his BA at St. Mary's University at San Antonio.

Art Vega earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma and both his M.A. and B.A. in Political Science from St. Mary's University. He specializes in american national government, the legislative process and the scope of Political Science.
