Arabic is the fifth most spoken language in the world, with over 211 million native speakers. Another 50 million people, from Africa to the Middle East, Indonesia and the Philippines speak it as a second language. It is the language of the Koran, the holy book of the Moslem religion. Arabic is also spoken by several thousand Arab Christians in Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, and the Maghreb.

The Arab and the Arab descent population of the United States is around two million people, who live in the whole country. There is an important population in Texas, especially in the largest cities.

Significant concentrations of Christian Arabic speakers from Lebanon and Palestine are also found in the US and other countries of the Americas, with large numbers in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Mexico.

In San Antonio, there are both Muslim and Christian Arabic-speaking communities.
