Completion of the second semester, second year of a modern foreign language.

The Social Science core must include:
EC 2301 Introductory Macroeconomic Theory, or EC 2303 Introductory Microeconomic Theory
HS 1352 World Civilization since 1650, or HS 1303, Introduction to Latin America
PO 1314 Understanding Politics

Twelve hours of advanced courses, chosen from:
EC, HS, IB, IR and PO courses eligible for the major. Only three hours of internship may apply to the minor. Students who major in EC, HS or PO, and minoring in IR, may not use any courses to fulfill the requirements of both the major and the minor. In some cases, MOS students minoring in IR may receive additional IR internship credit for their MOS internship.

Five-Year BA/MA Program in International Relations
Undergraduate majors with a minimum of 21 hours in International relations or Political Science, a 2.75 overall and a 3.0 GPA in the major, can begin graduate study in International Relations during their senior year. The program is designed to provide an intensive course of study leading to completion of a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in 5 years.

IR 3110/3210/3310 Current Problems in International Relations
A lecture and seminar program analyzing current issues in international affairs, with topics changing every semester.

IR 3351 World Religions
A study of the major world religions, their belief systems and their impact on social, economic, political and cultural development. Emphasis will be placed on Christianity (Western and Eastern), Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and primal religions.

IR 4301 Special Topics in International Relations 3 sem. hours Perspectives on cultural aspects of international relations; area studies; or specialtopics in international relations. May be taken twice with a different topic. The specific topic will be recorded on the transcript

IR 5301/5601 International Relations Internship
Experience-based learning in an applied setting with a government or private agency involved substantially in international affairs.

IR 5399 Senior Colloquium
A capstone course for IR majors, bringing together theory, research and ethical issues in International Relations. A series of major themes from Economics, History and Political Science will be reviewed, and will constitute a comprehensive examination for the degree.
